Freshfields Hires Prominent Infrastructure and Energy Partners
Freshfields has made a key move in strengthening its energy and infrastructure practice with the hiring of Jessamy Gallagher and Stuart Rowson from Paul Hastings. Both partners, who moved to Paul Hastings in February 2023, are recognised in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame for their extensive experience in infrastructure financing matters.
Gallagher to Co-Lead Global Energy and Real Assets Group
Gallagher’s role at Freshfields is not only as a partner but also as the global co-head of the firm’s energy and real assets group. She will share the leadership role with Richard Thexton, based in London. Gallagher is a noted expert in the field, with a strong track record in upper mid-market and premium M&A.
Rowson Brings Extensive Infrastructure Financing Experience
Rowson, similarly, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in infrastructure financing. His clients range from pension funds and fund managers to private capital sponsors, showcasing his ability to work across a diverse set of financing matters.
Freshfields’ Strategic Growth
The hiring of Gallagher and Rowson aligns with Freshfields’ strategic growth plans. The firm’s senior partner, Georgia Dawson, notes that the addition of the duo will accelerate the firm’s global growth in Europe, the US and beyond. Dawson further adds that the energy and infrastructure sectors continue to present unique opportunities for their private capital and corporate clients. Freshfields has also made strides in its private capital growth, launching this week in Boston with the hire of Matthew Goulding from Latham & Watkins. The firm has a clear vision: to build on its leading European buyout heritage and increase its presence in the US, while operating seamlessly across global markets.
Acknowledgement from Paul Hastings
In response to the move, a spokesperson from Paul Hastings wished the partners well and highlighted their record year in London, with over $200 million in revenue. The firm fully expects to have another record year this year, with its diverse range of practices contributing to the firm’s overall financial success.
Future Moves
Moving forward, it is understood that Paul Hastings plans to hire an infrastructure and projects team across London and other regions.
